Manchester United have reportedly reached a deadlock with Sporting Lisbon with regard to a possible agreement to sign midfielder Bruno Fernandes within the current transfer window.

ernandes, 25, has been touted to hitch the Red Devils since the start of the year but the club haven’t been ready to find the breakthrough for the transfer thanks to their reluctance to satisfy Sporting’s selling price .

According to Sky Sports News, United had initially agreed on a £55m deal in theory to sign the Portuguese but they went back on the proposal soon after to form a reduced £42m bid.

It is added that the Red Devils were within the belief that Sporting were in desperate need of funds before the top of the month but that doesn’t appear the case with the Lisbon side now reluctant to try to to business.

At present, there’s an impasse within the negotiations between the edges and United’s prospects of signing Fernandes are unlikely unless they’re willing to re-negotiate to satisfy Sporting’s previous demands.

With only one week remaining before the transfer deadline, United have certainly left it late in their pursuit of Fernandes but this has not necessarily changed the stance of Sporting, who are unimpressed with the recent handling of the player’s situation.

As such, the United board will certainly need to make the move and increase their transfer offer for the midfielder and this is often quite frustrating to listen to , given they might have easily signed Fernandes within the first place.

With the transfer saga around Fernandes, there has been just about no movement from the club for the other high-profile targets and it won’t be a surprise, if the Portuguese emerges because the only purchase before the deadline.
